Mark Molitor – Founding Director
All of my adult life (and even before) I’ve consistently found myself in coaching and leadership positions—both in the world of elite sport (basketball) and business.
Positions that by necessity honed my understanding not only of what it takes to be a great leader, but also of what it takes to build effective, high performance cultures.
But it wasn’t a little over fifteen years ago, when I went through what I now see as one of the most powerfully defining experiences in my life—a year long struggle with and recovery from depression—that I decided to make this area of work my business and my passion.
For me it was a light bulb moment—more accurately, a series of light bulb moments that continue to this day.
Having confronted, reflected on, and worked my way through depression, I became increasingly aware of just how many others were struggling too. And I wanted to do something about it, in a significant way.
The way I chose, was to focus on coaching, leadership, and mindfulness. Of course, some thought me naïve at the time—they thought I was kidding myself to think that I could really make a substantial difference all on my own (let alone in a corporate context).
But there was the twist. I knew I was never going to do it all on my own. I understood from the very beginning that my role was simply to be an enabler of others:
- As an Executive Coach I would enable individual leaders to become the person and leader they always aspired to be.
- Through Team Coaching and working with organisations to develop the capability and capacity of their leaders I would positively influence and shape organisational culture—helping to create highly effective, constructive, and supportive workplaces where people thrive, contribute, and feel fulfilled.
- By integrating mindfulness into my work with leaders, leadership teams and organisations, I would enable them to adopt a way of being that supports and nurtures a more grounded, insightful, connected, and intuitive approach to life, leadership, and work.
In essence my role was to plant some seeds, and help cultivate them by providing an environment and context within which they could take root and flourish.
More than a decade and a half later, I’m still planting seeds, and still equally passionate and inspired by seeing them grow, prosper, and flourish.
